Photography is a unique blend of technology and art that has invaded our lives. More often than not that this unique blend enriches our lives in many ways. It is an inherent nature of humans to want to improve whatever one is doing. So on this year's World Photography Day Arunaya Foundation and Ramakrishna Mission,Shivanahalli would like to share with you some rules and tips to improve your photography in whatever avatar it is being used. Girish Mayachari ,who was trained under Anand Sharan, an internationally acclaimed photographer has generously agreed to conduct this session.

  • A few basic things to remember about handling a camera
  • Composition - what is composition and why is it important
  • Rules of composition
  • Some tips for better photographs
  • A few Dos and Don'ts
How to reach Shivanahalli ? Take the Bannerghatta Road from the Bangalore City. Cross the Bannerghatta circle - the road curves to the left at that junction near the Bannerghatta Police Station. Proceed further towards Jigani Industrial township. Halfway, on the right hand side at Raagi Halli Bus Stop, you will see the Ramakrishna Mission, Shivanahalli hoarding. (You will also notice a Swamy Ayyappa temple hoarding). Take a right turn there and drive for about 10 kms. Do not take any side roads (rare and few) that you will come along . Travelling through the Bannerghatta National Park reserved forest, you will have to cross the Ragihalli village to come over to Shivanahalli. The Ramakrishna Mission School is located at the entrance of the Shivanahalli village.

We recommend car-pooling between participants. While confirming participation please also indicate your contact details and the route you will be taking to reach. If traveling in your own car, please do indicate if any spare capacity is available.

NOTE : During all our previous Shivanahalli trails, Swami Vishnumayanandji, has been hosting us for tea/snacks/lunch for the participants. And many of the participants have been donating pooled money to Swamiji for his kindness and the good work he is doing for the school/village and the park.Swamiji has requested that whosoever would like to donate, pl donate individually and directly to him, so that he can meet each of them, howsoever small the amount may be.

Kind request is to fill the below form which will help us to organize the lunch and the session on photography accordingly.Needless to say, we will not be able to accommodate more than 25 people for the session.Hence the selection will be on first cum first replied basis on the following link.

IMPORTANT NOTE :

We as organizers shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred - directly or indirectly - due to natural hazards, weather, injury or any untoward incident that may happen during the trail.Hence, request you all to follow and be with the Ashram's resource person for the day.
